WHAT IS PARKOUR?
The word "Parkour" comes from the French "parcours" which literally means the "the way through" or "The Path".
Once a training program for French Special Forces, Parkour is in its strictest definition is the act of moving from point "a" to point "b" using obstacles in your path to increase your efficiency.
Since then, Parkour/Freerunning has evolved into super cool creative moves that are immediately recognizable - even if you don't know what its called - as people began including flips and other creative expressions though signature moves including the "kong vault", "tic-tac" and "gap jumps".
Parkour is a growing movement culture with a vast and developing community. With many ways to experience movement, Parkour has something to offer everyone.
Learning Parkour/Freerunning at GRIT is fun and feels more like playing than exercise. It's great sport for those that want to be active and engaged in something different than a team sport as well as for team sport players who want to improve their reaction time, coordination, explosiveness and flexibility. It also engages and improves mental strength and stamina.
Approaching a new run, jump or aerial maneuver can be daunting - it is also a terrific way to learn how fun it can be to take risks and achieve your goal!
Led by our world class trainers and athletes, we will challenge you to move your body in new ways gaining valuable strength and mobility - all in a safe and encouraging environment.
GRIT's Parkour System is for youth, teens and adults and consists of three levels and eight bands. Our gym is modular so each week the layout is different to create fun and challenging ways to test an athletes skills.
We teach kids, teens and adults. Come join our movement and train with us!
